EL TAXISTA WINS GOLDEN PALM AWARD for BEST SHORT FILM at the HONOLULU INT'L FILM FESTIVAL 2009

EL TAXISTA
BEST SHORT FILM
Honolulu Int'l Film Festvial 2009

Elated does not even begin to describe the warm & fuzzies I feel, having taken the BEST SHORT FILM award at this year's Honolulu Int'l Film Festival. Bryan Ross and I took on the arduous task of going to the festival. We survived. The HIFF is a small festival, comparatively--only 37 films were screened from around the globe.

To be selected was an honor. To win was a real surprise, considering we were up against some great films with budgets of 50K plus, while ours was the equivalent of the loose change that lines Tom Hanks' pants pocket on any given day.

This brings our totals to 4 Wins, 4 Nominations & 11 Official Selections, with many more expected for this year!

A special shout out to:

Ron Noble, a very talented and all-around good guy, whose fantastic animated short, HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL won BEST ANIMATED SHORT at The Honolulu International Film Festival.

JUSTIN EVANS, my good friend, director & producing partner, whose kick-ass spy thriller, A LONELY PLACE FOR DYING, took the Special Jury Award for BEST FEATURE at this year's Durango International Film Festival. This marks his 2nd award after receiving the much-coveted HEINIKEN RED STAR AWARD for BEST FEATURE at last year's Santa Fe Film Festival. GO JUSTIN!
