EL TAXISTA WINS GOLDEN PALM AWARD for BEST SHORT FILM at the HONOLULU INT'L FILM FESTIVAL 2009

EL TAXISTA
BEST SHORT FILM
Honolulu Int'l Film Festvial 2009

Elated does not even begin to describe the warm & fuzzies I feel, having taken the BEST SHORT FILM award at this year's Honolulu Int'l Film Festival. Bryan Ross and I took on the arduous task of going to the festival. We survived. The HIFF is a small festival, comparatively--only 37 films were screened from around the globe.

To be selected was an honor. To win was a real surprise, considering we were up against some great films with budgets of 50K plus, while ours was the equivalent of the loose change that lines Tom Hanks' pants pocket on any given day.

This brings our totals to 4 Wins, 4 Nominations & 11 Official Selections, with many more expected for this year!

For all you Facebookers out there:

A special shout out to:

Ron Noble, a very talented and all-around good guy, whose fantastic animated short, HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL won BEST ANIMATED SHORT at The Honolulu International Film Festival.

&

JUSTIN EVANS, my good friend, director & producing partner, whose kick-ass spy thriller, A LONELY PLACE FOR DYING, took the Special Jury Award for BEST FEATURE at this year's Durango International Film Festival. This marks his 2nd award after receiving the much-coveted HEINIKEN RED STAR AWARD for BEST FEATURE at last year's Santa Fe Film Festival. GO JUSTIN!

EL TAXISTA: Official Selection of Honolulu International Film Festival 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SONG-INSPIRED SHORT FILM, EL TAXISTA, PICKS UP FARE FOR THE NEW YEAR

EL TAXISTA closes 2008 with 10 festival selections and keeps on riding.

Los Angeles, CA - January 3, 2009--
A year ago, actor-turned-writer/director, Luis Robledo was just a man with a dream and a script in hand. The 15-year veteran actor, whose credits include The Shield, Havoc, American Family and most recently, the Heiniken Red Star Award winner for Best Feature at this year's Santa Fe Film Festival, A Lonely Place For Dying, would finally take a shot at writing and directing. Little did Luis and his production team know that before the close of 2008, El Taxista, whose festival run began in August, would have amassed 10 festival selections world-wide, including 3 awards and 4 nominations. 2009 is proving to be no different. Less than a week in, El Taxista has been named Official Selection at this year's Honolulu International Film Festival, taking place in March. It is one of only 35 films selected from over 30 countries and will be competing in the Best Short Film category. The festival will take place in Honolulu from March 6th through the 8th.
